What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is the only non-invasive treatment approved by the FDA for lifting the skin on the neck, chin and brow. Ultherapy uses precisely focused ultrasound to lift and tighten loose or saggin skin over time, without any downtime.
How is Ultherapy different from other cosmetic procedures?
Unlike longer recovery periods for traditional facelifts, there is virtually no downtime with the Ultherapy procedure. Plus, the procedure takes only about an hour for most patients. The production of new collagen occurs gradually over time, so results can become more readily apparent over three to six months. It also is the only procedure to use ultrasound imaging, allowing us to see the layers of tissue we are targeting during the treatment, which ensures the energy is deposited exactly where it will be most effective.
Does it hurt?
“Ultherapy Amplify,” a recent software upgrade, now allows for a more comfortable procedure. While comfort levels vary from patient to patient, most patients report that the procedure is now rather tolerable. If and when any discomfort occurs, it happens while the ultrasound energy is being delivered. This sensation is only temporary and is a positive indicator that the collagen-building process has begun. We take great measures to make the Ultherapy experience as pleasant as we can and patients tell us they leave feeling comfortable and excited about the benefits to come.
How long does it last?
Patients that have been treated with Ultherapy still have fresh, young collagen a year following the procedure, but our skin continues to age. Future touch-up treatments can help patients keep pace with the process of aging, and varies by individual.
Are there any side effects?
There may be slight redness for up to an hour or two following the Ultherapy treatment. A small percentage of patients may have some slight swelling, tenderness to the touch, or tingling, but these will be mild and temporary in nature.
