The power of RF and microneedling: FAQs about Potenza® RF Microneedling, taking collagen-boosting to new heights

At Bridgeport Laser & Wellness Center, we are not afraid to be trailblazers! In fact, we embrace the new and the innovative. It is part of our DNA and shows how our fearless leader, Alina Wilson, is rewriting the book on anti-aging and ushering in a thoughtful aging movement. The use of “twists” on existing procedures represents such fearlessness, all in the name of our patients’ utmost comfort, safety, and best treatment outcomes. Potenza™ RF microneedling aligns well with these fundamental principles and is a great fit with our medspa’s vast range of dynamic therapies in Tualatin, Oregon.

What is Potenza® RF Microneedling?

An FDA-approved therapy, Potenza® RF Microneedling by Cynosure, combines the power of two nonsurgical, aesthetic procedures: microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) energy. It is indicated to correct signs of aging and environmental damage on the face and body.

How does it work?

One of our talented and experienced professionals starts by applying a handheld device to your treatment site(s). This device is equipped with dozens of tiny needles. You won’t feel anything due to the unique design of micro-needles and the application of a numbing anesthetic. As these fine needles penetrate the tissue, tiny channels are created in the skin. These controlled microchannels or injuries then trigger the healing process. Collagen is sent to the area to help close the wounds, and, in doing so, fresh skin cells are promoted. The RF part comes into play as we can simultaneously deliver this therapeutic energy to those channels within the skin. This step helps to take the collagen and elastin-building power of microneedling to new heights.

When can I start to see the results from all of this?

The renewal of firming collagen and springy elastin is a process. Results generally begin to be seen four to six weeks after treatment. Patients get a spring in their step as these results only get better with time. Usually, peak texture, tone, and overall skin quality improvements are achieved in around 12 weeks. This blended approach to microneedling also supports more rapid healing than conventional processes.

Is it a one-and-done treatment?

While improvements can be made with just one treatment session, the total number of treatments depends on many factors, including the severity and nature of your skin concerns. In our skilled providers’ hands, you can rest assured that the process is safe and low risk for all skin types and generally associated with little more extensive side effects than fleeting pinpoint redness, bleeding, swelling, and irritation. No thoughtful aging approach or treatment at our office in Tualatin, Oregon, in general, would be complete without supporting your skin’s sustained health and beauty with guidance on everything from good sun protection measures to maintenance therapies.
