This particular system combines two proven aesthetic treatments into one: RF (radiofrequency energy) and microneedling. When in the hands of qualified providers like ours, Potenza™ RF Microneedling is safe and effective at treating many visible skin concerns. These concerns often stem from sun damage and age-related changes. It may be used on the face and other parts of the body.

What is microneedling?

Answer

The microneedling part of this treatment involves the use of a handheld device that features dozens of sterile, tiny needles. These “micro-needles” are gently and precisely applied to wrinkled, scarred, or loose skin (among other concerns). As the ultra-thin needles penetrate the skin, they create microscopic openings. By creating such controlled microchannels or injuries, the microneedling process encourages healing. Collagen is triggered to aid in repairing the damaged areas. As your body naturally closes these wounds, fresh skin cells are made and help to reveal a smoother, tighter, and rejuvenated appearance.

What is radiofrequency energy?

In the context of cosmetic treatments, RF energy-assisted procedures generate heat. This thermal heating triggers an intense healing response by triggering the production of collagen and elastin. These substances are responsible for the skin’s firmness and elasticity. Age-related changes, UV light from the sun’s rays/tanning beds, smoking, and other factors can all degrade collagen and elastin, resulting in saggy, wrinkled skin. RF energy helps to replenish some of what is lost with the passage of time and the effects of things like cumulative sun exposure.

How is RF energy applied?

After the treatment zones are numbed with an anesthetic, the microneedles come in contact with your skin. With this advanced technology, we can simultaneously deliver RF energy through the channels made by the microneedles. You may feel a slight prickling sensation as the needles are inserted, followed by some warmth and pressure as the RF is delivered to deeply heat tissues. While most patients find Potenza™ RF Microneedling treatment to be manageable, some areas can be more sensitive than others. Our providers may adjust the settings – treatment depth and intensity – to keep you comfortable at all times.

You can get better and potentially longer-lasting results with RF microneedling than either RF or microneedling as standalone procedures. Will I see results right away?

Immediately following treatment, you may notice pinpoint bleeding and what looks like a sunburn in the treated areas. You will not notice visible improvements right away, because building collagen and elastin is a process. Trust us, the results are well worth the wait. By rebuilding structural components of the skin, your results are also highly durable and can last a long time. Generally, patients begin to see improvements between four and six weeks post-treatment. As more collagen and elastin are produced, your skin looks and feels better and better, little by little.

Peak improvements in texture, tone, and overall skin quality are typically visible in ~12 weeks. While this hybrid treatment generally supports more rapid healing and results than conventional approaches, it is important to follow instructions for after-care provided by our team to encourage healing and minimize the risks of irritation, scarring, and pigment problems.

Can Potenza™ RF Microneedling be done in one treatment session?

Answer

You can enjoy improvements after a single appointment. However, the total number of treatment sessions is dependent on the type and severity of your skin concerns, your goals, and other factors. You may require additional treatment sessions for stubborn concerns, like acne scarring.

Maintenance treatments are also necessary to keep those results because, while this treatment is “durable,” time continues to march on. Guidance on things like good skincare can help to sustain those results, too.

How much does it cost?

The total cost for Potenza™ RF Microneedling treatment also varies. Additional treatment sessions, multiple treatment sites, and larger areas generally cost more than treatment completed in fewer sessions and sites, and for smaller areas of the face versus the full-face, neck, or chest.
