IPL Photo Facial Treatment

Sun exposure and stresses of life, along with environmental pollutants and the passage of time will cause negative changes to occur upon the skin. These conditions are especially apparent on the face, neck, chest & hands. But we now have treatments to combat these negative changes. Introducing the Photofacial.

A Photofacial, otherwise known as a Fotofacial, is a procedure that uses intense pulses of light known as IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), which penetrate deep into the skin. This causes collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis to constrict, reducing redness and age lines. This “Photo-Rejuvenation” of the face and body produces even-toned skin that reveals a more youthful appearance. Photo facials remove skin damage and address a series of unwanted skin conditions caused by heredity, reaction to medication, sun damage, pregnancy or other such factors.

Some examples of conditions treated with photofacials:

  • Pigmented Freckles and Age Spots (often incorrectly referred to as liver spots)
  • Broken Capillaries & Red Flushing Skin
  • Rosacea & Redness (facial veins)
  • Sun and Smoke Damage
  • Superficial (red) Acne Scars
  • Dull Complexion
  • Uneven Coloration

Palomar Icon™ Photofacial Rejuvenation

The Palomar Icon™ made by Cynosure, is the next generation of IPL technology. The genius of the Icon™ system is that instead of a one-size-fits-all treatment, it was designed with three different handpieces, each targeting a specific area of your body.

MaxYs™

The MaxYs™ handpiece is specifically designed to work on your chest, arms, and hands in the removal of unwanted pigmented lesions. It’s also excellent as an alternative to laser hair removal for getting rid of finer and lighter hair that can sometimes be difficult to remove.

MaxR™

The MaxR™ is the tool you need for permanent hair reduction. Because of its optimized light technology, it can be used on all skin types including tanned skin. The MaxR™ has a large spot size enabling it to cover bigger areas such as the back, legs and chest.

Palomar ICON™ treatments use specially filtered wavelengths of light delivered through a cooled handpiece to reduce the signs of aging by removing pigmented spots, decreasing the size of visible blood vessels in the skin and removing redness. The treatments smooth the skin and cause fine lines and wrinkles to become much less noticeable. Increased collagen production ultimately reduces fine lines, fills in very mild wrinkles in the face and neck, and smoothes the skin, reducing pore size and improving skin texture. Areas that can be treated include the face, neck, chest, arms and hands. Other large body areas may be treated as well.

MaxG™

The MaxG™ uses optimized light technology to reduce the appearance of facial skin imperfections. Conditions include:

  • Flushing Rosacea
  • Red Facial Vessels
  • Port Wine Stains
  • Blue Facial Vessels
  • Red Chest and Neck Vessels
  • Resistant Alar Vessels
  • Telangiectatic Lesions

You’ll be amazed at the results that MaxG™ can produce. MaxG™ is effective in treating even the deepest facials vessels because of its ability to provide uniform heating across the entire vessel.

Harmony AFT™

Do you remember what your skin was like when you were young? It was glowing and radiant. But as it does with everyone, time passed and you were exposed to physical and environmental factors of stress, pollution, UV-Rays and poor diet choices. These factors caused your skin to change and reduce its healthy glow. You might have been left with issues such as red or brown spots, melasma, or wrinkles, or broken capillaries.

But now there is a weapon to fight these aging factors. Introducing Harmony AFT™ by Alma, a revolutionary IPL treatment.

Why is Harmony AFT™ IPL different?

Most IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) lamps deliver light waves through a broad spectrum of wavelengths including waves on the ultraviolet spectrum, which aren’t needed and can be damaging (think sunburn.) Harmony AFT™ uses Advanced Florescence Technology (AFT) which converts this short-wavelength light to the usable spectrum. By delivering IPL this way, your skin is more protected and the actual treatment time is reduced.

Is Harmony AFT™ Safe?

Yes, thousands of Harmony AFT™ procedures have been safely done all over the world. You’ll take heart knowing you’ll get beautiful results.

Harmony AFT™ downtime?

Nope! Your Harmony AFT™ treatment is done in our treatment rooms and requires no extended down time or recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does an IPL photofacial rejuvenate the skin?

At Bridgeport Laser and Wellness Center, we are excited to offer IPL treatment for those looking to enhance and transform their skin. IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light, a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses light-based therapy to target and improve the appearance of various skin concerns. This treatment works by delivering high-intensity pulses of light into the deeper layers of the skin. This stimulates cell growth and increases collagen production.

What are the main benefits of using the IPL photofacial to improve the skin’s texture and tone?

The main benefit of an IPL photofacial is its ability to rejuvenate the skin, transforming its overall appearance. This treatment significantly reduces the appearance of sun damage, age spots, rosacea, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and other types of imperfections on the skin. With the IPL treatment, patients can achieve smoother, more youthful-looking skin with a more even tone and texture.

Can IPL photofacial treatment be used on all skin types?

One of the great things about IPL photofacial treatment is that it can be used on all skin types. Unlike other treatments that may have limitations based on skin color or type, IPL works for almost everyone. However, consulting with a trained professional before undergoing any cosmetic procedure is advisable.

What should I expect during an IPL photofacial session?

During an IPL photofacial session, some patients describe a sensation similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. However, this discomfort is usually minimal and can be easily tolerated. Depending on the area of the body or face being treated, the session can last anywhere from 15-30 minutes.

Are there any side effects or downtime with IPL photofacial treatment?

Some patients might experience mild redness or swelling immediately after an IPL photofacial session. These side effects typically subside within a few hours to a day. No downtime is associated with this treatment so that most patients can resume their daily activities immediately after their session.

How many sessions of IPL photofacial treatment are needed for optimal results?

The number of treatment sessions needed varies depending on individual skin concerns and goals. Most patients see significant improvement after 3-5 sessions spaced a few weeks apart. However, for more severe skin issues, additional sessions may be recommended.
