Gently and skillfully peeling away years of sun damage and aging from your skin: FAQs about chemical peels
Imagine being able to gently peel away the effects of years of cumulative sun exposure, gravity, and other changes to our skin that accompany the march of time. Well, you don’t have to imagine any longer! Led by Alina Wilson, an authority in medical aesthetics and a trailblazer in the concept of Thoughtful Aging, our team provides a wide range of chemical peels to address an equally wide range of skin concerns.
How do your peels work?
From the Bridgeport Laser & Wellness Center office in Tualatin, Oregon, a special formulation may be applied to your skin to improve the appearance of or even eliminate your specific concerns. The formulation type depends on the nature of your concern, its severity, and other factors, such as your skin type. So, peels are a highly customizable procedure. Once the solution is safely and carefully applied by one of our skilled professionals, it goes to work to lift damaged skin cells. All that is left behind are fresh cells and glowing and unblemished skin!
What are the different types of formulations?
Different ingredients and concentrations can be customized to your unique needs. Some support a “light” or “lunchtime” peel, while others support deeper peels and may be categorized as such (either a medium-strength or deep peel).
What are the differences between light, medium, and deep peels?
True to the terminology, a “light” peel is more superficial. It only affects the outermost layer of the skin. Medium peels are a middle-ground. They stimulate healthy cell turnover in the outermost layer of skin and the upper part of the dermis (or the middle layer of skin). The deep peel penetrates into the lower layer of the skin.
What are the benefits of each? And why might one be better than another for me?
Lighter peels are generally safe and appropriate for all skin types. They are best for those with earlier or less extensive signs of aging and sun damage. While they present a low-risk, no-downtime process, these peels do require more treatment sessions to get desirable or goal results. Deeper peels are not appropriate for everyone and require considerable downtime, but they do get dramatic results. It is a “one-and-done” process.
